Comparing UK office bean-to-cup brands works best when you compare specific models at similar daily workloads, then check milk handling, cleaning and the service agreement. Start with your busiest normal day and busiest break, not a brand ranking: the right machine must handle both without creating an unmanageable cleaning routine.
In short
- Compare recommended daily output with daily demand, and hourly output with peak demand. They are different measurements.
- Specify the exact milk system and cleaning package, not just the machine name.
- Distinguish a user-removable brewing unit from one removed only during technical servicing.
- Treat telemetry as a configured service, with confirmed hardware, connectivity and account access.
- Require written confirmation of UK availability, postcode coverage, response arrangements and replacement-machine provision.
Set the comparison criteria first
Use these criteria before looking at brands:
- Capacity: daily drinks, peak queues and the actual drink sizes you serve.
- Milk: fresh milk, powdered ingredients, milk alternatives and any requirement for separate circuits.
- Cleaning: staff preparation, automatic cycles, dismantling and weekly tasks.
- Connectivity: telemetry, meaning remote transmission of machine information, rather than simply a touchscreen or drink-ordering app.
- UK support: the organisation responsible for installation, maintenance and repairs at your premises.
The office machine brands guide provides the broader starting point. Here, the emphasis is on representative machines and operational differences, not brand histories.
Our editorial approach: no paid ranking is used. Specifications below are manufacturer claims, not results from first-hand performance or reliability testing. The service column identifies checks to make, not an independently verified league table of engineer coverage.
Compare models within consistent capacity bands
These bands organise published daily recommendations, not machine quality. They are starting points for a shortlist, not a promise that every machine in a band can clear the same queue.
All specifications were checked in November 2026. Confirm the exact UK model, generation and fitted options before ordering.
Published recommendations up to 100 drinks daily
| Brand, model and segment | Claimed daily output | Milk and cleaning | Telemetry position | UK service check |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bravilor Bonamat Sego 12: compact self-service | Up to 60 | Powdered topping and cocoa; automatic cleaning functions plus manual mixer cleaning | Remote telemetry is not specified on the cited product page | Ask who handles brewer, mixer and water-system maintenance |
| Coffetek Vitro S1 Espresso: compact vending-style tabletop | Up to 60 | Powder ingredients; do not confuse it with fresh-milk MIA models | Optional Vendon connectivity kit | Request the local service provider and operator-training schedule |
| JURA X10: office fresh-milk machine | Recommended maximum 100 | Automatic milk drinks and One-Touch milk-system cleaning | Pocket Pilot compatibility; confirm hardware and activation | Establish whether repairs are on site or require collection |
The Sego 12 and Vitro S1 Espresso suit a shortlist prioritising powdered-ingredient menus. Their limitation is equally clear: these particular configurations are not substitutes for fresh-milk machines. The X10 is a more relevant candidate when automatic fresh-milk drinks are essential, but its cleaning arrangements must still fit the office routine.
Published recommendations of 101 to 200 drinks daily
| Brand, model and segment | Claimed daily output | Milk and cleaning | Telemetry position | UK service check |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cimbali S15: office and small commercial self-service | Up to 150 | Fresh-milk and powder configurations; automatic washing system | Integrated Wi-Fi and bidirectional telemetry described in brochure | Name the organisation commissioning recipes and supporting the fitted milk system |
| WMF 1500 S+: configurable workplace and hospitality machine | Recommended up to 180 | Several milk packages; cleaning ranges from partly manual to optional AutoClean | WMF CoffeeConnect | Put the exact milk and cleaning packages into the service agreement |
| Franke New A600: configurable commercial self-service | Up to 200 | FoamMaster packages; CleanMaster automatically doses cleaner, EasyClean requires manual addition | Built-in FrankeConnect described in product leaflet | Confirm support for the New A600, not merely an earlier A600 |
| Necta Kalea Plus: established tabletop platform | Recommended 200 in legacy manufacturer brochure | Fresh-milk and powder versions documented | Legacy cloud connectivity documented; current connectivity needs confirmation | Obtain written availability, parts-support and modem confirmation |
Cimbali, WMF and Franke merit comparison where the requirement is an automatic milk menu with configurable commercial features. Their weakness as shopping-list entries is configuration complexity: a quotation for the base machine does not establish which milk, cleaning or connectivity functions are included.
The Cimbali office guide is the next read for that manufacturer’s range, rather than treating the S15 as representative of every Cimbali machine.
Take particular care with Necta listings. During research, the former official Kalea Plus product address redirected to Gaggia’s G 500 page. That does not prove the two machines are identical or that a particular Kalea Plus remains available new in the UK.
Higher daily recommendations and separately stated hourly outputs
| Brand, model and segment | Manufacturer’s output statement | Milk and cleaning | Telemetry position | UK service check |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Schaerer Coffee Soul: higher-demand commercial self-service | Recommended 250 daily | Fresh-milk options; optional ProCare automated circuit cleaning | Optional Schaerer Coffee Link | Confirm ProCare support and remaining manual duties |
| Gaggia Milano G 700: higher-demand commercial machine | Up to 300 daily | EvoMilk; optional DualMilk; automatic milk cleaning | Evoca Digital Services compatibility | Confirm UK availability and support for the selected version |
| Eversys Cameo C’2ms Classic: commercial espresso automation | Up to 175 espressos or cappuccinos per peak hour, based on 23-second extraction | Automated milk system and automatic cleaning procedure | e’Connect platform | Confirm the UK electrical version and specialist service arrangements |
| Rex-Royal S2: configurable commercial platform | Portfolio states up to 200 coffees per hour | Fresh-milk configurations; AutoClean documentation also specifies manual tasks | Rex-Royal Cloud | Confirm configuration-specific output and the responsible UK service partner |
The last two rows sit outside the daily bands. Do not convert their hourly figures into daily recommendations by multiplying by opening hours. Request a workload proposal for your menu.
Coffee Soul and G 700 provide published starting points for higher daily demand. Cameo and S2 deserve consideration where commercial drink production and workflow are priorities, but their quoted hourly figures are not directly comparable with the daily recommendations above.
Check cleaning and brewing-unit access properly
The brewing unit is the mechanism that receives ground coffee and brews it under pressure. “Removable” needs qualification: removal for routine cleaning is different from removal by an engineer during a service.
JURA describes an in-place cleaning approach without routine brewing-unit removal. WMF’s 1500 S+ documentation describes a removable brewer, while Gaggia explicitly describes the G 700’s Z4000 brewing system as removable. Neither arrangement is automatically better: assess what staff must actually do and what remains the engineer’s responsibility.
Ask suppliers to demonstrate access on the quoted machine. Do not transfer an older model’s maintenance instructions to a newer generation, or assume every machine from one manufacturer uses the same arrangement.
Milk-cleaning automation also differs:
- Franke: CleanMaster automatically doses cleaning product; EasyClean requires manual addition.
- WMF: AutoClean is an option, not a description of every 1500 S+ configuration.
- Schaerer: ProCare automates milk and coffee circuit cleaning.
- Rex-Royal: the AutoClean instructions still identify daily manual cleaning duties.
A rinse is not evidence that the full cleaning procedure has been completed. Before accepting “fully automatic cleaning”, request a list of everything an employee must prepare, remove, wash, refill and record.
Build a shortlist around your workplace
Start with attendance, not payroll headcount. As an illustrative planning assumption, two machine drinks per person present gives:
- 20 people: 40 drinks daily.
- 50 people: 100 drinks daily.
- 100 people: 200 drinks daily.
These are arithmetic examples, not consumption benchmarks or machine recommendations. Add visitor demand, then record how many drinks are requested during the busiest break.
Shortlist in this order:
- Eliminate unsuitable configurations: wrong milk format, insufficient published workload guidance or unavailable UK support.
- Check the installation: machine and cooler space, hopper clearance, power, water supply, drainage and maintenance access.
- Arrange a matched demonstration: use the same beans, milk and workplace mugs wherever possible.
- Test the actual menu: include long black coffees, milk drinks and any decaffeinated requirement.
- Watch closing-time cleaning: assess staff involvement, not just the automatic cycle.
- Agree acceptance criteria: drink consistency, queue clearance and cleaning responsibilities.
If you want a branded workplace system rather than an independently chosen machine-and-supplier combination, compare workplace coffee systems separately.
Ask these questions before accepting a quotation
Send each shortlisted supplier the same questions:
- What exact model, generation, milk system and cleaning package are included?
- What workload do you recommend for our drink sizes and peak demand?
- Which brewing-unit tasks belong to staff, and which require an engineer?
- What manual milk-cleaning tasks remain?
- Who performs installation, planned maintenance and breakdown repairs?
- Does the service agreement cover our postcode and working hours?
- Is the response commitment an acknowledgement, an engineer visit or a restoration target?
- What happens if the machine cannot be repaired promptly?
- What telemetry data can we access, and who monitors alerts?
- What happens to telemetry access and machine settings if we change supplier?
Use the UK supplier guide to assess the organisation behind the machine proposal. Brand approval alone should not replace a written service commitment.
Compare the whole operating commitment
Request itemised written quotations covering the machine, installation, cooler, filtration, ingredients, cleaning materials, planned maintenance, repairs, connectivity and end-of-contract arrangements. Ask suppliers to state the VAT treatment of each item.
For your own comparison, calculate total expenditure over the same evaluation period and divide it by expected drinks over that period. Keep assumptions consistent, including attendance, drink mix, bean dose, milk use and staff cleaning time.
For comparing UK office bean-to-cup brands, the most useful final choice is a documented machine, configuration and support package, not a badge.
FAQ
Does the same bean taste identical in different brands?
No, the same beans should not be assumed to produce identical drinks. Manufacturers offer different brewing systems and recipe controls, while commissioning determines the settings used in practice. For a meaningful demonstration, request the same beans and milk, specify the intended drink size, and taste the machine after its recipes have been adjusted.
Is telemetry useful for a single office machine?
It can be, if someone uses the information. Remote machine information may help a supplier identify faults or monitor cleaning and consumption, but the available functions differ by platform. Ask which alerts reach your supplier, whether they trigger action, and whether your office can access useful reports rather than simply being told that the machine is connected.
Should every employee be allowed to remove the brewing unit?
No, follow the exact model’s operating instructions and allocate the task to trained staff where removal is permitted. A removable brewer is not an invitation to dismantle the machine. Ask the installer to demonstrate the approved procedure and document which maintenance tasks employees must leave to the service engineer.
